Sissu Travel Video

Nestled in the heart of the Himachal Pradesh’s Lahaul Valley lies the picturesque village of Sissu. This hidden gem, surrounded by towering peaks, lush valleys, and glistening rivers, is a paradise for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers. In this blog, we will explore Sissu and its nearby tourist destinations, including the Helipad, Sissu Waterfall, Koksar Valley, the scenic drive through the BRO (Border Roads Organisation) Highway, the serene Monastery, and the captivating Sissu Lake.

We went there from Manali and its just an hour’s drive via Attal Tunnel. Before the tunnel was created people had to go via Rohtang pass. During Winter Rohtang pass will be closed so Sissu was almost inaccessible for tourists till summer. But thanks to the Tunnel we can vist this beautiful place even during peak winter.

Sissu – Nature’s Retreat

There is very limited stay option in Sissu and its a small village and only recently open for tourists. PLM Dhara is one of the best hotels with proper power backups. Power outages are very frequent and not all hotels have proper power backup. We stayed in Sissu for 5 days and there was no power for 2 days. We Stayed in Zostel Sissu for 2 days and 3 days in Hobknob. Zostel and Hobknob are good hotels for lesser prices. There wont be any room services in these hotels.

Sissu Helipad: A Breathtaking Arrival

Our journey begins at the Sissu Helipad, which offers a mesmerizing aerial view of the surrounding landscapes.

Sissu Helipad and Sissu Lake. Sissu Helipad was open for tourists and we were allowed to fly drones. During winter this will be occupied by Army.

Sissu Waterfall: Nature’s Symphony

A short distance from the helipad lies the enchanting Sissu Waterfall, a captivating sight and a haven of tranquility. You can walk till the waterfall from a rope bridge. Or you can zip through to the other side of the lake from Helipad using a zip line.

A drive through the nearby Koksar Valley is a treat for the eyes. The valley is a patchwork of green fields, charming villages, and pristine rivers. The drive offers breathtaking views of the Dhauladhar and Pir Panjal mountain ranges, making it a must-visit spot for photography enthusiasts.

We hired a 2 wheeler from Zostel Sissu and went to Koksar in afternoon. It was a 40 minutes drive from Sissu to Koksar in the beautiful Leh Manali Highway. One of the most beautiful roads in the world due to snow mountains on either side and river in the valley below.

Snowfall in Sissu

We went in May first week which is summer in most part of India but we were lucky enough to witness snowfall in Sissu. Snowfall happened throughout May in Sissu and Manali. All guests in all nearby hotels were on the streets enjoying snowfall, for some like us it was the first ever snowfall.
